Spanish Town Court House

St.Catherine

Old Court House Spanish Town

This Georgian building was erected at a cost of ₤15,700 and is located at the southern end of the Square. It was built on a site which was originally a cemetery and later a chapel and an armory.

The building was destroyed by fire on March 18, 1986. Up until the fire, this structure that architect James Delaney designed was used for the sitting of the Circuit and Resident Magistrate's Courts, and for Petty Sessions. The courts offices were housed there too and the upper level was the Town Hall used for concerts, lectures and theatrical performances.
