The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange pays floral tribute on behalf of Prime Minister, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness at the ceremony commemorating the 130th Anniversary of the birth of the Rt. Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Jamaica’s first National Hero. The ceremony was held at the National Heroes Park in Kingston.
The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange gets together with Universal Negro Improvement Association President Stephen Golding (left) after the Floral Tribute ceremony in honour of the Rt. Excellent Marcus Mosiah Garvey, National Hero at the National Heroes Park on Thursday (August 17). With them are: Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (2nd right); Senator Counsellor Delroy Williams, Mayor of Kingston (right), Barbara Blake Hannah, Former Senator and Ras Mutunji, member of the UNIA. Minister grange told the ceremony that “Marcus Garvey was a revolutionary. His weapon was education and his mantra was Black Pride. He taught us that the way to achieve Black Power and Black Prosperity was through education, not bullets.”
