Colbeck Castle Development Proposal

St. Catherine

Jamaica National Heritage Trust - Jamaica - Colbeck Castle Development ProposalColbeck Castle is a massive stone and brick ruin with walls standing to their original height. The main building is of dressed limestone with red and mottled brick. At the four corners of this enclosure and forming a part of the enclosing stone walls are out-buildings constructed of stone and brick similar to the main house. The castle is believed to have been built by John Colbeck who is said to have come to Jamaica with Penn and Venables in 1655. He lived there for 28 years dying in 1683.

At present Colbeck Castle lies in ruins. However, the remaining walls show the grandeur of the structure.
